The Government of Canada recently launched the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program. These prestigious awards will fund 70 two-year fellowships annually, valued at $70,000/year (taxable). They will be distributed equally across the three federal granting agencies: CIHR, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. CIHR is administering the program delivery.

A unique aspect of this program is the requirement that research institutions be closely involved in endorsing applicants. The institutions must be committed to providing a strong and supportive environment for research as well as fostering professional development of awardees.

Applications are now being accepted through ResearchNet ( ) and must be submitted by November 3, 2010.
